Areti Giovanou, collaborative pianist

Areti Giovanou is a classically trained pianist with a Masters of Music from the Mannes College of Music, The New School in Piano Performance and Vocal Accompaniment as well as a Professional Study Diploma in Piano Performance.     

Equally at home as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician, Ms. Giovanou has performed in many of New York City’s leading venues including City Hall, Steinway Hall, the Morgan Library, Opera America, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Goethe Institute, and Grolier Club. Additionally, Ms. Giovanou has musically coached and performed operas such as Norma, Rigoletto, musicals (“My Fair Lady”), operettas (“The Godson”), and theatrical plays such as Crisis, and The Princess Goes to War amongst others. In 2023, she collaborated with Teatro Grattacielo as a staff pianist for the opera La Vestale.

Ms. Giovanou also has a wide-ranging international footprint with appearances abroad include Greece, Italy, and France. She has performed with the Archdiocesan Metropolitan Youth Choir of New York at the Presidential Palace of Cyprus, Zappeion Hall in Athens, and at the White House in Washington D.C. In 2021, Ms Giovanou performed the celebration of the 200th-anniversary Greek Independence Day which was live-streamed worldwide.

Most recently, Ms. Giovanou finished a series of shows playing excerpts of Cherubini's opera Medea for the Fusion Theatre Company where she also served as music director. Ms. Giovanou has been collaborating with Alexandra Lynch in various venues since 2022. Ms. Giovanou is a proud Hellenic Republic Scholarship Foundation for Postgraduate Studies recipient and currently an active freelance pianist.
