Hassan Al-Mufti, piano

Hassan Al-Mufti is an accomplished performer, composer and educator from Baghdad, Iraq, who came to the United States as a refugee in September 2001. He found a new beginning in Buffalo, NY, where he began to further his piano education with Mr. Kenneth Atkinson at Community Music School of Buffalo. Hassan became a teaching artist and then Chair of the Piano Department at CMS Buffalo. Prior to leaving his native country, he studied piano at the Music and Ballet School of Baghdad under Russian pianists Igor Chernyavsky and Agnes Bashir, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in music at the College of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad. Hassan later spent six years teaching and performing in Amman, Jordan. His piano performances have taken him across the Middle East and United States, including performances for the Jordanian Royal Family, foreign dignitaries and the Diplomatic Corps. Hassan lives in Buffalo with his wife, Jennifer.
